what to expect in therapy

Whether this is your first time in therapy or not, starting the process can feel intimidating. Here’s what to expect.

Consultation Call

During an initial consultation call, you will have the opportunity to talk to a therapist about present concerns and/or goals. You will also have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the therapist’s style/approach. If you find that the therapist is a good fit for you, you are welcome to schedule your first session during the call!

Intake Session

We will meet on a weekly or biweekly basis depending on your needs and availability. Sessions will be tailored according to your unique needs and concerns. With consistent sessions, in time you will begin to notice and feel a shift in yourself and your relationships.

Moving forward

After the consultation call, you will schedule your first session, which will be an intake session. In this session, the therapist will gather information on your background, mental health history, relational history, family of origin, and other relevant information so that your therapist can begin to understand and have context surrounding your unique needs, background, and present concerns.
